Program: Emergency Shelter
Position Title: Youth Care Worker
Description: This is a non-exempt position responsible in assisting with the provision or primary care, supervision and daily living service to Emergency Shelter Home program residents.
Responsibilities: The individual in this position will have a working knowledge of KDHE and SRS regulation and policy statements on discipline, child abuse and neglect reporting laws along with knowledge about the nutritional needs of youth including food quantity, preparation. This position also provides situational training including, but not limited to communication skills, rational problem-solving skills, social skills, personal hygiene, home management, and consumer education.
Approximately 75% of this position’s time is spent interacting with people.
Approximately 15% is spent gathering, compiling, organizing data.
Approximately 10% is spent utilizing equipment, computers and databases.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Preferences will be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences. This employee must have experience or training in crisis intervention and preference will be given to applicants with experience working with adolescents. The candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have a satisfactory driving record.
Hours: Full position available
Salary Range: $10.00 per hour
