- NTS News
In the midst of all the devastation that the year 2005 brought our world—the tsunami, devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, news of unrest around the globe—here at Nazarene Theological Seminary we have continued to prepare God-called women and men to be faithful and effective ministers in and to this hurting world, just as we have for 60 years. Though the world has changed over the years, our message and mission have not.
As a friend of the Seminary, you know that our message and our mission are not really ours; rather they are a shared message and mission with you and the worldwide Church—our Partners on the Journey. It is truly an honor and a privilege to be on this journey with you as we work together to prepare future ministry leaders to offer the message of the Gospel to our brothers and sisters here at home and around the globe.
As our partners, we need your ongoing prayer and financial support in order to continue to fully equip those who are preparing to serve the church in ministry. It is our pleasure to be able to announce to you that as a result of a very special challenge grant from the Board of General Superintendents, any gift you send to NTS for student scholarships will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to a half million dollars. This means that any gift you give will be twice as effective in helping students to attend NTS so that once prepared for ministry, they may leave to minister without the burden of excessive education debt and will thus be free to minister where they are called–around the world, in local congregations, both large and small.
Our goal for this academic year is to raise at least $250,000 of the $500,000 challenge—and we are nearly half-way there. Will you send in your gift today and be a part of this important ministry of the Church? You may also make your gift online by clicking here.
Two special memorial scholarships have also been established with the recent passing of Dr. Paul Orjala, former NTS Professor of Missiology and pioneer missionary of the Church of the Nazarene; and Dr. Paul Benefiel, pastor, long-time district superintendent, and former member of the General Board, as well as father of current NTS President Dr. Ron Benefiel. Contributions made to these scholarship funds will be matched by the above mentioned challenge grant as well.
For more information on these memorial scholarships or the matching scholarship grant, please contact the NTS Development Office at development@nts.edu or at 800.831.3011, ext. 238.
