Position: Cook
Description: The cook position assists in the food preparation of all meals on a large-scale, commercial-type basis and in the service of food on a tray assembly line to residential youth daily. The cook also assists in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas, directing and supervising cook-aides, and adhering to a food service schedule.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years working experience in residential, institutional, or commercial food service. Demonstrated knowledge or experience with NSLP and HACCP policies and procedures. Completion of Foods Safety class and/or college cutlery classes preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age with valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Responsiblities: Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to food and meal preparation, service of food to residential youth, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas, adherence to National School Lunch Program (NSLP) policies and procedures, adherence to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point polices and procedures, completion of paperwork associated with NSLP and HACCP, and directing and supervising cook-aides. Approximately 50% of the position’s time is spent preparing food and serving meals; approximately 30% is spent maintaining the functioning and cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas; and 20% is spent interacting with people.
