On October 4th, Nazarene Theological Seminary installed Dr. Roger L. Hahn in the Willard H. Taylor Chair of Biblical Theology. The chair is named in honor of Willard H. Taylor who was professor of Biblical Theology at NTS from 1961-1981. Dr. Hahn delivered an installation address that focused on the history and place of Biblical Theology within the theological disciplines.

Dr. Willard H. Taylor was an excellent teacher who focused on bringing the intellectual options to the table without seeking to simply fill the student with data. Instead, Taylor trusted that the Holy Spirit would guide students to truth. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Taylor developed the office of the dean as it currently functions. He served the entire faculty and was open to discussion and change on the whole of academic issues. Not only was Taylor an excellent teacher and successful administrator but he was also a scholar whose technical scholarship reflected his wide reading and keen mind. This scholarship was demonstrated whenever he took to the pulpit to share the gospel.
Dr. Roger L. Hahn, following Taylor’s model, serves both in the classroom and as the academic dean. Dr. Hahn earned his Ph.D. in New Testament from Duke University 1984 with his dissertation on the Holy Spirit in Romans. Dr. Hahn has written numerous articles for The Wesleyan Theological Journal, Preacher’s Magazine, Illustrated Bible Life, Ministero, and Conquista Juvenil. He has published chapters in Biblical Resources for Holiness Preaching, Vols. 1 and 2; The Second Coming: A Wesleyan Approach to the Doctrine of Last Things; I believe: Now Tell Me Why; The End; Great Passages of the Bible: Salvation from Beginning to End; and Who’s on First? Finding True Fulfillment in the Crush of Life. Dr. Hahn also serves as Teaching Pastor at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene and is widely recognized as an outstanding preacher and teacher.
