Dr. Henry Spaulding elected to NTS faculty

The Nazarene Theological Seminary Board of Trustees has elected Dr. Henry Spaulding as Professor of Philosophical Theology and Christian Ethics. Since 1995, Spaulding has taught at Trevecca Nazarene University, serving as Professor of Theology and Philosophy, Dean of Arts and Sciences and also as Director of Graduate Program in Religion. He will begin his new teaching assignment at NTS in the fall 2007 semester, also assuming the role of Director of the Master of Divinity Degree Program.

Dr. Spaulding received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Florida State University. He is also a 1974 graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and a 1977 graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary. Spaulding has written a book as well as several articles for Holiness Today, Come Ye Apart, and Illustrated Bible Life. He was a contributor to the Wesley Study Bible (Thomas Nelson Press) and is active with the Wesleyan Theological Society for which he has published several scholarly articles and book reviews.

Professor Spaulding served as the Chairperson of the Commission on the Doctrine of the Church for the 1989 General Assembly for the Church of the Nazarene. He is a camp meeting speaker and a frequently sought after preacher for many local churches and annual retreats.

Spaulding and his wife Sharon have three children: Shelly, who is married to Matt O’Connor, Megan, and Hank . The family currently resides in Hendersonville, TN where Sharon is a second grade teacher.
