Students who complete the NTS D.Min. course of study will be able to demonstrate the following at a higher level of competence than achieved by completing the M.Div.:
- Integration of academic ability and advanced skills for various aspects and types of contemporary Christian ministry.
- Growth in self-understanding, self-evaluation, and self-direction in regard to lifelong study, professional performance, spiritual growth, and leadership potential.
- Growth in understanding of and appreciation for biblical, historical, and theological disciplines, especially as related to his or her own faith tradition.
- An integrated understanding of human personality, society and culture from a theological perspective.
- A theology of ministry which can be an adequate vehicle for fulfilling the mission of the Church in his or her ministry situation.
- Informed awareness of the mission of the Christian community in the world and the development of personal resources to contribute to that mission.
- Increased knowledge and skills in human relationships, especially in skills for relating effectively to other members of one's ministry team and the persons to whom he or she ministers.
- Capacity to use creative forms and modes of ministry and bring ministry under critical and creative evaluation.
- Innovative leadership in facilitating growth among laity and clergy.
